In the mid-elevations of Central and South America, many of the forests still standing are part of shade-grown coffee farms. The natural canopy under which shade coffee is grown often provides the last refuge for birds who have lost much of their habitat to the vast destruction of tropical forests.
Seattle Audubon Society's Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign recognizes the important role shade-grown coffee plays in stopping the decline and even extinction of so many migratory and tropical birds. Each purchase of shade-grown coffee makes a difference!
